Dorothy “~.THE.DoT.” Wilson is an emerging contemporary artist born in Germany, made in New York…..& currently creating from California.
She’s been painting for about 6 years now, & within that time has been recognized as a Fine Artist by the William Tolliver Estate, as well as Nominated for the Luminary Award for Fine Arts by #ArtsATL.
Her mixed-media paintings are vibrantly colored,
boasting at least 15 coats per hue.
Many are also musically-themed, reflecting her experience in songwriting.
Her images are her personal contribution to #TheCULTURE. They primarily consist of dignified, accomplished women of color...usually adorned with iconic "doorknocker" earrings, which have become a signature presence in her art, as well as a nod to ~.THE.DoT.'s youth: growing up in a never ending love affair with Hip Hop!
Each piece is meticulously built utilizing high end materials: acrylics, oils, leather, Swarovski Crystals, glass, textiles, 24K Gold leaf, etc.......taking
up to two months to complete.
She started off 2019 with a bang, having landed an art license for an upcoming GHOST Water (The Official Water of The BIG 3) limited edition campaign.
~.THE.DoT. recently wrapped her third year as the Resident Artist at Aloft Atlanta Downtown (a W Hotels brand), with a rotating 12-painting installation.
BEATLab, Atlanta’s central vinyl records store, hosted a new 12-piece commissioned installation by ~.THE.DoT., this past Spring.
In addition, her work has been featured on the STARZ Network’s “Survivor’s Remorse”, seasons 3 & 4, while a 12-piece installation has recently been retired at ‘The Grain Grooming Studios’, owned by Celebrity Barber Perry Meeks of BET’s “InkPaperScissors”.
She has successfully completed art commissions for Tyler Perry Studios Executive Mark Swinton, and her original artwork was leased-for-feature in the “Being Mary Jane” Movie (Series Finale), which aired on BET.
Summer & Winter of 2020 ~.THE.DoT. was booked as a Featured Artist in
the 'Spectacular Black Girl Art Show' Atlanta, where she nearly sold out of
her display. She's concluded another appearance as a Featured Artist in the
first BGAS in Los Angeles, in January of 2022....and had her first Solo LA Art
Show, hosted by the Iconic Ms. Kiki Shephard (It's Showtime At The
Apollo) in West Hollywood, during Black History Month.
