Dorothy “~.THE.DoT.” Wilson is an emerging contemporary artist.
Born in Europe, made in New York, & currently honing her skills from California.
Moved to capture the African Diaspora where they are, her compositions are reflections of our ancestors wildest dreams...a collection of images that are her personal contribution to #THECulture.
They primarily consist of dignified, accomplished Black women...usually adorned with the iconic "DoorKnocker" (Bamboo) earring, which has become a signature presence in her art.
Overall, these visuals are a nod to ~.THE.DoT.'s youth....growing up in a never ending love affair with Hip Hop.
This is in keeping with the Happy Vibes & Nostalgia that her images evoke! Her Mixed-Media paintings showcase her dynamic use of color. Boasting at least 10 coats per hue, each piece is skillfully composed utilizing acrylics, oils, leather, Swarovski crystals, glass, 24K gold leaf, & more....
....taking up to three months to complete.
~.THE.DoT. has successfully completed art commissions for Tyler Perry Studios Executive Mark Swinton, & her original artwork was leased-for-feature in Gabrielle Union's "Being Mary Jane" Movie (Series Finale), which aired on BET, as well as the STARZ Network's "Survivor's Remorse", seasons 3 & 4, produced by Lebron James.
Additionally, ~.THE.DoT. has been a featured artist in the 'Spectacular Black Girl Art Show' events
